New Age

  • They said we'd all fall,
    cigarettes snuffed, thin
    tendrils still spiraling
    toward the stars begging
    for remembrance.

The flowers in our hair, in
    our pockets, drawn with needle
    and ink on flesh cannot
    sweeten the smoke
    from dandelion daydreams
    turned to dust.

And yet, in Time's wool peacoat
    blackened with age
    our scent still lingers.
